The Tramas collection is a design that explores the aesthetic and manual crafting possibilities when different types of materials are mixed in the same piece, generating a composition with a very graphic character. The dense and soft surface of the felt provides a sensation of warmth and comfort, introducing a layer of visual depth to the Tramas rugs which, in combination with wool, generates tactile and aesthetic contrasts that enrich the texture and perception of the piece.
In this collection, it is as if during the conception of its design the framework had been deconstructed to regenerate a new type of weave, with another manufacturing process, other materials, and a novel aesthetic. The biggest challenge in its creation lies in working in different dimensions, as the combination of different materials, colors, and textures requires meticulous attention to detail.
This entire process has resulted in an apparently very simple design in the style of a graphic weave that, as in painting or graphic design, generates an effect of depth and three dimensions visually and, in this case, also spatially as it is a rug.
Romero & Vallejo, Designer of the TRAMAS Collection
Sara Romero and Mariano Vallejo are the Architects, Designers and Founding partners of Romero Vallejo, a multidisciplinary design firm founded in 2004, which is dedicated to both small and large-scale projects, concentrating on residential architecture, retail, interiors, product design and creative direction.
The duo strongly believe that the quality of our surroundings has a direct influence on the quality of our day-to-day lives. Therefore, they strive to create a world in which architecture and consumer products are inextricably linked. Their interest in industrial design for architecture has led them to collaborate in a wide range of sectors such as ceramics, glass, general upholstery, metalwork, woodwork and furniture, amongst many others.
After having studied architecture in Barcelona, Valladolid and Rome, and having worked as Director of Interior Design at Hem, Romero Vallejo are now regularly asked to collaborate with various architecture centres, design institutes, and universities.
Together, they have carried out projects through the “The Spanish Foundation for Innovation in Crafts” and presented their furniture collections at Isaloni in Milano.
Their distinguished, forward-thinking vision has also lead them to be recognised by international design publications such as Dezeen, Archdaily, Plataforma Arquitectura, and Europaconcorsi.
