Babadul® Floor Lamp - Ingo Maurer. Add elegance and style in the living- or bedroom with the Babadul floor lamp by Ingo Maurer. Ingo Maurer's dimmable Babadul floor lamp features a single elongated stem and a folded Japanese paper lamp shade for warm diffused ambient light. Babadul is both a floor lamp and a light object, which emanates positively and unmistakably on spaces. The paper sheet hovers at the end of a slender metal rod, like a large abstracted flower petal. Just as in all other MaMo Nouchies, the lampshade consists of Japanese paper, which has to undergo a special manufacturing process in Dagmar Mombach’s studio, until the desired shape is achieved. The light source is an LED module, provided with a cooling element, developed by Ingo Maurer especially for the MaMa Nouchies. Its light is so warm and soft, that any difference can hardly be noticed when compared to conventional halogen light sources.

Blurring the lines between sculpture and functional object, Ingo Maurer’s inspired Babadul Floor Lamp continues the German designer’s explorations of materiality in surprising and clever ways. The dynamic design catches the eye with its folded paper form in the shape of an abstracted flower petal which hovers at the end of a slender metal rod. Lit from within by an LED module, the light source was carefully designed by Maurer’s team to preserve the inviting illumination provided by incandescent lights. Babadul is a continuation of Maurer’s celebrated MaMo Nouchies; like the previous iterations, the lampshade consists of Japanese paper, which has to undergo a special manufacturing process in Dagmar Mombach’s studio, until the desired shape is achieved. The cross-cultural design references the work of sculptor Isamu Noguchi and continues the art of Japanese paper folding. Each Babadul Floor Lamp is unique since all folding is done completely by hand undergoing up to eight separate treatments.
