Mid Century Round-Shape FJ Clock in Tectona Grandis teak wood by Finn Juhl for Architectmade Denmark. Designed by the Danish architect in 1950, these elegant wall clocks were created for the United Nations building in New York City where it is still on display today. The Finn Juhl clock captures the essence of the designer's clean Scandinavian 1950s looks, with its circular shape that complements the natural qualities of the teak wood, and the aluminium dial that captures his flair for clever minimalism. Each clock is crafted entirely by hand in Denmark from warm-honed teak wood in a limited edition of 1000 pieces (signed & numbered engraving). Japanese clock movement (battery operated). Measures 13.8" in diameter.

Fans of the more clean-cut style of Scandinavian modernism will welcome the re-issue of designer Finn Juhl's United Nations Clock, intended to represent the original UN design which is on display today. Designed in 1950 and hand turned in a small village in Denmark, each solid teak clock features a body and swiss-mechanism that can be set by hand according to your time. Each clock is handcrafted in Denmark and comes packaged in a simple cardboard box, suitable for gift giving.

Finn Juhl was born in 1912. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He is one of the most acclaimed Danish architects from the 1950's. He is known for his bold, sculptural forms and ultra-refined detailing. Although Finn Juhl was never a skilled craftsman like many of his colleagues in the 1950's and 60's, he made up for it in vision. His saying was that one cannot create happiness with beautiful objects, but one can ruin quite a lot of happi- ness with bad ones," which summarizes the mind of Finn Juhl and his aesthetic thinking.
