Design House Stockholm 'Block Lamp' by Harri Koskinen for Design House Stockholm in Sweden.   The concept of the Block Lamp by Design House Stockholm is a light bulb encased in glass.  Stardust offers the Design House Stockholm Block Lamp by Harri Koskinen with a 110% price match and free shipping.  Plus, our price includes the necessary light bulb (usually not included).  The Block Lamp (also known as the Bulb Lamp) is a sensation of ice and light, of heat and chill.  Finnish designer Harri Koskinen plays with contrasts and the archetypes of modern society in his Block Lamp, which became a design classic as soon as it was launched in 1996.  The Block Lamp has been showered with design awards ever since, including: Excellent Swedish Design in 1998, the Design Plus Award at the Ambiente Trade Fair in Frankfurt, as well as Best New Product at the accent show in New York in 1999.  The Block Lamp from Design House Stockholm became part of MoMA’s permanent collection in 2000.  Last year Harri received the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, Scandinavia’s most prominent design award. The chairman of the jury notes that Harri is an internationally renowned designer who, despite his young age, is perhaps Finland’s greatest contemporary designer, and whose design is a perfect combination of tradition and renewal.

Finnish designer Harri Koskinen was inspired by industrial glass bricks when he created the Block Lamp, which is featured in the Museum’s collection. Two hand-cast glass blocks conceal a 25-watt candelabra bulb (not included) within a matte sandblasted bulb shape, creating the illusion of a common light bulb encased in glass. This anniversary edition features a red woven cord and can be placed on a floor or table for ambient lighting.

Harri Koskinen was born in Karstula, Finland, in 1970.  His furniture and versatile design objects have aroused great international interest. Harri Koskinen strives to find solutions that are innovative for both the consumer and producer. He works with companies like Artek, Danese, Design House Stockholm, Finlandia Vodka Worldwide, Issey Miyake, Montina, Muji, Genelec, O luce, Panasonic, Seiko Instruments, Venini and Woodnotes. Along the years, he has won several awards. The most significant of them was Compasso d’Oro Award in 2004.  His Block Lamp is made by Design House Stockholm and imported from Sweden.  Harri Koskinen's Block Lamp is available from Stardust with Free Shipping and a Low Price Guarantee.
