Giulio Iacchetti Alessi Design:

Giulio Iacchetti has been working in the field of industrial design since 1992. He combines this work with lecturing and teaching duties in a number of universities and design schools. He has received many awards amongst which (with Matteo Ragni) the Compasso d'Oro (Golden Compass) in 2001 for the Moscardino multipurpose biodegradable fork, which today is part of the permanent exhibition of design at the MoMA in New York. In 2009 he received the Premio dei Premi (Prize of Prizes) from the President of the Italian Republic for the innovative "Design alla Coop" project, which sought to apply design related themes to large chain stores. In May 2009 he opened the series of exhibitions dedicated to young designers at the Triennale design museum in Milan, with a personal display titled "Giulio Iacchetti. Oggetti disobbedienti". The Noe series, designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Alessi, includes a drop-stop ring, a champagne cork opener, a pressure bottle stop and a modular bottle holder and its name is a clear reference to the first man that, according to the Bible, grew grapevines to make wine.

His Alessi Noe Wine Bottle Holder is a modular system for practical and correct storage of wine bottles. It was conceived as both a functional accessory and a decorative element. Each module holds a bottle and can be easily connected to two other modules through a groove along the base of each element. By combining and stacking multiple elements you can create small wall structures that can be positioned vertically or horizontally. Each box contains six elements for creating a pyramid structure that resembles an upside down bunch of grapes. Made of thermoplastic resin, the bottle holder is presented in three colours: white, back and dark red.

The Alessi Noe Bottle Stopper, designed to keep the organoleptic properties of wine and champagne intact, is made in polished steel with an internal rubber crown that closes the cap with a pressure and expansion mechanism. Its function is already revealed by its shape, reminiscent of traditional corks used to hermetically seal champagne bottles.

He also designed the Alessi Noe Champagne Bottle Opener. This champagne cork opener is a must-have tool for champagne lovers and its shape is inspired by the outline of a bottle. Produced in AISI 630 steel that is cast in a shell with the lost-wax process and then polished, it features cutters on top, allowing you to cut the metal cage that secures the cork. You can then release the cork using the tool to make expulsion easier.

The drop-stop ring is an ironic take on the classic engagement ring with a sparkling solitaire diamond. Its diameter is based on wine bottles generally used by wineries and the ring is produced in 18/10 stainless steel with a polished finish. The black felt liner found inside the drop-stop ring can be easily removed, washed and put back in place for easy maintenance.
