Stratos Ceiling Fan by The Modern Fan Company
Stratos® Ceiling Fan
Stratos Ceiling Fan made by The Modern Fan Company. A contemporary ceiling light fan (light kit is optional) with an aluminum body and matching blades. Modern Fan's Stratos Fan features a powerful motor and advanced design principles to provide outstanding air distribution. Stratos Fans are easy to install, look beautiful and work like a charm. Plus, the ceiling fans are very silent compared to other fans. Available with 2 fan colors, 3 blade colors and 2 light kits. Height is fixed at 17" (the #650 and #651 light kit adds 1-inch to length of this fan). The fan can accommodate a sloped ceiling up to 31° when using the sloped ceiling adapter (sold separately). Select white, aluminum or maple blades with a 42" or 52" blade span. Note: Any control ordered with a fan that has been configured with an energy-saving CFL will be supplied in a non-dimming version.
The Stratos ceiling fan efficiently moves plenty of air so you'll keep air moving, feel cooler, and there will be less need to run the air conditioning continuously. This beautiful modern ceiling fan cools in the spring and summer and moves stagnant air during heating season in fall and winter. Stratos features a simple, vertical orientation particularly appropriate for lofts, stores and other high-ceiling applications. The first truly modern ceiling fan, Stratos has no reference to the Victorian era designs which still dominate the fan industry. Among its innovations is the structural down rod which gives the fan an impression of secure attachment to the architectural space and virtually eliminates the wobble so often seen in conventional fans. The patented, single piece, die-cast rotor eliminates the problems of balance and tedious assembly required with the classic blade iron configuration.
Selecting the right fan, what you need to know:
The more space between the blades and the ceiling, the more effectively your fan will circulate and distribute air. However, building codes require that the blades of a ceiling fan must be at least 7-feet above the floor. Generally, we recommend hanging the fan as far down from the ceiling as is visually appropriate, while maintaining the 7-foot blade clearance above the floor. When dealing with higher ceilings, one-third the distance to the floor is a good guideline. We generally recommend one of our hugger models for 8-foot ceilings. Keep in mind that optional light kits may add several inches to the overall length of the fan. Stratos requires an adapter for sloped ceilings.
In nearly all cases, our 52-inch blade spans are the most appropriate selections. The 42-inch blade spans should be reserved for smaller rooms or narrow spaces (10-foot-by-10-foot and smaller) or when airflow to the area above the blades is blocked or restricted by architectural elements (beams, walls, cabinetry, etc.). Occasionally, two 42-inch fans may be a desirable alternative to one 52-inch fan.
The Modern Fan Co ceiling fans do not use conventional pull chains which is a nice minimal design feature. When ordering your fan, you should select the control that is most appropriate for your fan and electrical requirements. All controls are designed for use with one fan only.
Assembly and installation is required. Power supply must be turned off prior to any contact with electrical wires. As with any electrical product, it is recommended that a licensed electrician be hired to install your ceiling fan.
