Vitra Panton Chair
Polypropylene
Designer: Verner Panton
Manufacturer: Vitra
The Panton Chair was designed by Verner Panton in 1967. It is one of the most iconic modern chairs ever produced.
Because of technical progress in plastics processing, the Panton Chair has been through a number of production phases since its original launch. The last version of the chair authorised by Verner Panton was produced in collaboration with the designer at the end of the 1990s. This model realised one of Panton's fundamental objectives for the first time: a plastic chair as an inexpensive industrial product.
Ever since its release in 1967, the one-piece plastic chair was
regarded as a sensation and received numerous awards.
The Panton Chair is recognized as a classic of modern furniture design: one of the first models belongs to the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Made from matte surfaced polypropylene that has been dyed through.
